RE:	Phone and computer equipment for the recreation center at Rock Chalk Park

Please include the following item on the December 17, 2013 City Commission agenda.

Authorize the purchase of phone and computer network equipment needed for the new recreation center at Rock Chalk Park.

Project Description

As we anticipate the opening of our new recreation center in 2014, there is a need to purchase owner supplied computer and phone equipment that will be installed in the building as it is completed. The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests the purchase of the following items:

Items for the Server Closet:	$4,400
Phones, licenses, features, etc.:	$11,000
Voice Gateway to Connect to Phone network:	$5,200
Two network switches:	$5,900
Network Cabling:	$13,000
Wireless Network:	$4,800

These items will be purchased from multiple vendors and will be needed to open the facility. By ordering now, they can be installed as the building is being completed.

Project Funding

It is estimated that the total cost for these items will be $44,300 and will be funded using the Sales Tax Reserve Fund.

Action Request

Authorize the City Manager to sign purchase orders totaling $44,300 for the purchase of computer and phone network equipment for the recreation center at Rock Chalk Park.
