Background information

Building Maintenance performed an inspection of the condition of the light poles for downtown Lawrence. They were rated 1 thru 5. Poles are original for the early 70’s and some of the bases are rusted and very weak. A few poles have blown over in the wind causing damage to vehicles and buildings.

 

Recommendation 1

Accept low bid from Kris Davis for the purchase of the following poles and accessories:

The additional poles and accessories will be used as inventory for future anticipated replacement needs. Having an inventory on hand will minimize the time it takes to replace a pole from any type of damage.

 

Funding

Resolution No. 7048 authorizes debt in the amount of $120,000 and $7,219.20 will be paid from the Buildings and Structures Maintenance Budget in the General Operating Fund. 

 

Action Request:

Authorize staff to purchase light poles and accessories for $88,719.20 from Kris Davis and award installation of light poles and accessories for $38,500 to J. Warren Company, Inc.
