RE:               Bid date for gym equipment for the recreation center at Rock Chalk Park

Please include the following item on the next available City Commission agenda.

Set a bid opening date of December 3, 2013, for the owner provided gym equipment needed for the recreation center at Rock Chalk Park.

Project Description

As we anticipate the opening of our new recreation center in 2014, there is a need to purchase owner supplied equipment that will be installed in the building as it is completed. The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests the bidding of the following gym equipment:

Portable Bleachers – 48

Team benches – 36

Scoring tables – 18

These items will be needed to open the facility. By ordering now, they can be assembled and stored at one of our shop locations over the next few months, then transported to the site when the facility is ready.

Project Funding

It is estimated that the total cost for these items will be $55,000-$65,000 and will be funded using the Sales Tax Reserve Fund.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to set a bid date of December 3, 2013, for gym equipment needed for the recreation center at Rock Chalk Park.
