Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   Good health and quality of life for everyone in Lawrence is an important goal for our community; and

WHEREAS:   Healthy eating, being physically active, and living tobacco free are essential ingredients to a healthy, productive life; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence has been actively engaged in efforts to promote community health such as clean indoor air, complete streets, and the development of a county-wide community health improvement plan; and

WHEREAS:   LiveWell Lawrence is a diverse, active community coalition founded to promote policy and environmental changes that make it easier for local residents to eat healthy foods, engage in physical activity; and live tobacco free; and 

WHEREAS:   In the five years since it was founded LiveWell has experienced tremendous growth and now has over one hundred community partners contributing to our community’s health; and

WHEREAS:    LiveWell is committed to advancing shared public health priorities and making the community a healthier place to live for current and future generations.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael Dever, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the week of October 13-19, 2013 as

“LiveWell Week”
