RE:

Donation of Property – Northwest Corner of 31st Street and Louisiana

On September 10, 2013 the City Commission authorized purchase of 5.689 acres of land at the northwest corner of Louisiana and 31st Street for the future location of sanitary sewer pump station number 10.[1]  The City acquired title to the property on September 25, 2013.

Also on September 10, the Commission authorized the receipt of approximately 18 acres of land to the west of the pump station site to be used for parks and recreation and open space purposes.  The land to be donated is primarily owned by Savannah Holdings, L.C.  After survey work was completed for the land donation, it was determined that approximately 2.7 acres of the land to be donated belongs to the parcel titled to Bruce and Joan Snodgrass – Douglas County Plate No. 800420A (map). Authorization is requested to accept the additional land donation and to authorize the City Manager to amend the previously executed donation agreement to include 2.7 acres to be donated from the Snodgrass parcel.

Action Requested:

Authorize the City Manager to execute an amended agreement for donation of land to the City of Lawrence from Savannah Holdings, L.C. and Bruce and Joan Snodgrass.
