RE:

Annexation of Pump Station 10 site

On September 10, 2013 the City Commission authorized purchase of 5.689 acres of land at the northwest corner of Louisiana and 31st Street for the future location of sanitary sewer pump station number 10.[1]  The City acquired title to the property on September 25, 2013.

This tract is currently located outside the City limits of Lawrence.  Pursuant to K.S.A. 2012 Supp. 12-520(a)(2), the City as owner of the land, may annex the property by adoption of an ordinance.  As this tract is less than ten acres, it does not need to be considered by the Planning Commission.  The attached annexation Ordinance 8924 also includes the right-of-way adjacent to Louisiana Street and 31st Street which brings the acreage to be annexed to 8.68 acres (map).

Action Requested:

Adopt Ordinance 8924 annexing 8.68 acres located at the northwest corner of 31st Street and Louisiana into the City limits.
