RE:	Shotgun start at Lawrence Police Foundation Golf Tournament

The city has received a request from the Lawrence Police Foundation to fire a blank from a shotgun for a “shotgun” start at their golf tournament on Monday, September 9th at 5:00 p.m. at the Orchards Golf Course at 3000 Bob Billings Parkway. If the Commission wishes to authorize this, staff recommends suspending enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the city, for this event.

ACTION:      Approve the suspension of enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, (prohibiting the discharge of firearms within the city) to allow a “shotgun” start at the Lawrence Police Foundation golf tournament on Monday, September 9, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. at the Orchards Golf Course at 3000 Bob Billings Parkway.
