RESOLUTION NO.  7039

 

A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 7027 OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, ORDERING THE IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR CERTAIN MAIN TRAFFICWAY IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO SIGNALIZATION, SIDEWALK AND PEDESTRIAN PATH CONSTRUCTION, PAVING, INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES – INCLUDING SIGNS, SIGNALS, POLES, VIDEO DETECTION EQUIPMENT AND RELATED EQUIPMENT, AND ALL RELATED DESIGN, ENGINEERING AND INSPECTION WORK.

 

            WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the “City”) previously adopted Resolution 7027 on July 2, 2013, authorizing the improvement of 6th Street and George Williams Way, as follows:

 

Improvements at the intersection of 6th Street and George Williams Way, including, but not limited to: installation of traffic control devices including signs, signals, poles, video detection equipment and related equipment; and all related design, engineering and inspection work

 

(the “Improvements”) and further authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds pursuant to K.S.A. 12-685 et seq. to pay the costs thereof; and

 

            WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase the total authorized costs related to the Improvements and to increase the amount of bonds to be issued therefor.

 

            BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

 

            SECTION 1.  Section 3 of Resolution No. 7027 is hereby amended as follows:

 

            SECTION 3.  The estimated cost for the improvements on the streets and intersections described in Section 1 is $275,000 plus costs of issuance and interest on any temporary financing for said improvements.  The cost of the improvements shall be paid from all lawful sources including the issuance of General Obligation Bonds pursuant to K.S.A. 12-685 et seq. and other lawful authority. 

 

            SECTION 2.  The City expects to design, construct and to make capital expenditures on and after the date of adoption of this resolution in connection with the improvements set forth in this resolution, and the City intends to reimburse itself for such expenditures with the proceeds of the bonds and/or notes in the maximum principal amount of $275,000 plus costs of issuance and plus costs of interest on any temporary financing.

 

            SECTION 3.   This Resolution shall be effective from and after adoption by the Governing Body.

 


            ADOPTED by the governing body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, on August 6, 2013.
