08/13/13

·         Adopt on second and final reading, Ordinance No. 8886, approving and appropriating the 2013 City of Lawrence Operating and Capital Improvement Budget, if appropriate.

 

·         Adopt on second and final reading, Ordinance No. 8887, attesting to the increase in property taxes levied for 2014, if appropriate.

 

·         Adopt on second and final reading, Ordinance No. 8883, establishing water and sanitary sewer service rates, effective November 15, 2013, if appropriate.

 

·         Authorize staff to acquire three (3) fixed-route vehicles as replacements for three (3) existing fixed-route transit vehicles which have surpassed both the manufacturer and Federal Transit Administration useful life requirements. These vehicles would be purchased off of the existing Brownsville, Texas Contract with Gillig Corporation.  Staff Memo and Attachments

 

·         Consider approving rezoning, Z-13-00191, of approximately 5.09 acres from IG (General Industrial) District to IL (Limited Industrial) District with conditions limiting certain IL uses, located at 2200 East Hills Drive. Submitted by GHB Investors, property owner of record. Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 8891, to rezone (Z-13-00191) approximately 5.09 acres from IG (General Industrial) District to IL (Limited Industrial) District, located at 2200 East Hills Drive. (PC Item 3; approved 5-1 on 7/22/13)

 

·         Consider Text Amendment, TA-13-00106, to the City of Lawrence Land Development Code, Chapter 20, Articles 4 and 5, to permit the Accessory Dwelling Unit use as an accessory use in the RS5 (Single-Dwelling Residential) District. (PC Item 6; denied 6-0 on 7/22/13)

·         Concur with Traffic Safety Commission recommendation to deny the request for time limit parking in front of 305 E. 7th Street (TSC Item No. 3; approved 8-0 on 03/18/13).   Staff Memo   Supporting Materials

 

08/27/13

·         Approve Memorandum of Intent with Douglas County and the University of Kansas creating the Campus Village Initiative, a mechanism to implement the recommendation in the Retiree Attraction and Retention Task Force recommendation of establishing an intergenerational long-life community with diverse housing options in Lawrence for KU Alumni and Friends, Haskell Alumni and and Friends and Baker University and Friends within five years.

 

·         Public hearing regarding request from Sunlite Science and Technology, Inc. for a fifty percent (50%) property tax abatement on property at 4811 Quail Crest Place, Lawrence, Kansas.

·         Second and final reading of Ordinance No. 8856, ordering through the exercise of eminent domain the condemnation of fee simple title to private property interests commonly located at 1106 Rhode Island Street, and authorizing the filing of a petition in Douglas County District Court (the ordinance was adopted on first reading on May 7, 2013).

·         Authorize the Mayor to sign a Memorandum of Intent with Douglas County and the University of Kansas regarding the New Cities Initiative.
