Implementation of residential trash cart program proceeding

Please see the attached report for information detailing the implementation of the trash cart program, including numbers of carts and service calls. 

 

November sales tax distribution

The City of Lawrence recently received its November sales tax distribution. The distribution is the result of retail sales from mid-September to mid-October. The distribution of $2,900,933.69 is $230,000 more than the prior year distribution for the same month. The 2012 budget for the total sales and use tax distribution is $30,555,461. The total sales/use taxes for 2012 are now projected to exceed $32,000,000. Please see the attached report for more information.

 

Parks & Rec Special Populations program enters tree in Festival of Trees

Lawrence Parks and Recreation’s Special Populations division entered a decorated holiday tree in the “Festival of Trees” event for the third consecutive year. The event is a fund raiser for The Shelter Inc. which provides emergency services for youth and families in Lawrence and the surrounding area. The Special Populations tree was purchased at the auction and the donors have generously offered to donate the tree back to Parks and Recreation Department. The tree is on display in the Administrative Office of the department. Please see the attached report for more information.
