RE:	Airport Runway Maintenance Project

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has informed the City that the Lawrence Municipal Airport has a maintenance project being considered for funding.  The main runway 15-33 is in need of crack sealing, striping, and other maintenance.  The FAA will fund ninety percent (90%) of the estimated $71,250 project.

The City requested Qualification Statements and followed the FAA process for selection for a consultant.  Three Qualification Statements from PEC, Burns & McDonnell, and Airport Development Group (ADG) were received. The submittals were reviewed based upon several factors including:

• Airport Maintenance Projects
• Previous Experience
• Key/Lead Personnel
• Knowledge of FAA Process and Procedures
• Familiarity with Lawrence Municipal Airport
• Similar Projects Completed
• Thoroughness of Qualification Statements

It is recommended that the City select Airport Development Group for this project. 

The FAA has developed a schedule for this project which is outlined in the attached correspondence.  This project will be completed in 2013. 

Action Request:  Authorize staff to develop a Scope of Services with ADG for the Airport Pavement Maintenance Project.
