RE:

Bids on Library – Parking Garage/Site/Utilities Package

Bids for the first package of subcontractor work on the library/parking garage project were received and opened at City Hall on October 30, 2012.   BA Green, the City’s construction management firm, and Gould Evans have evaluated the bids, made recommendations on certain items which can be approved and removed, and have forwarded a recommendation of bid packages totaling $5,274,345.  This amount is in keeping with the project budget ($18 million voter approved debt issuance and financial support from the Library Endowment).  Some of the items removed from the recommendation may be pursued at a later date once the entire project has been successfully bid and determinations of keeping the project within the overall budget can be made.

As part of the bid packages received, an alternate bid on the additional 72 spaces was received.  This was estimated at $ 1 million, and the bid, including general conditions from BA Green, came in at $834,806.  Staff is recommending that the alternate not be accepted at this time, but that the Commission waits until a revised special assessment benefit district – reflecting this new pricing – is prepared.
