Exhaust hoods/Welding stations for welding fumes at the container maintenance facility

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the November 6th, 2012 meeting:

Installation of Welding hoods and exhaust ventilation for five (5) welding stations at the Solid Waste Annex North building.

Project History.  The SWAN building houses the container maintenance facility. They presently have to open large overhead doors when welding to ventilate the building. Infrared overhead heat was installed two year ago to help keep the work area warm. By not opening the overhead doors for ventilation there will be a substantial energy savings. These are energy efficient fume extractors that remove smoke, fumes and heat at their source to help assure worker safety and comfort.

Project ScopeThis project is for the Installation of five (5) ventilated welding stations. Exhaust hoods will be over each welding area; this will remove all fumes from the building. Each unit is a self-contained operation.

Project FundingThe project is funded from account 502-3-3515-6050. This project is estimated to cost 40,000.00
