RESOLUTION NO. 7000

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS REQUESTING THE DOUGLAS COUNTY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER (ECC) USE THE DOUGLAS COUNTY CONTRACT TOW ROTATION LIST WHEN REQUESTED BY THE LAWRENCE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS AUTHORIZED IN SECTTION 1-1508.B OF DOUGLAS COUNTY HOME RULE RESOLUTION HR-12-9-2.

WHEREAS, Douglas County operates the Douglas County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) and is responsible for dispatching towing services within the County and the City of Lawrence when requested by law enforcement officers or City officials;

WHEREAS, on September 19, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County passed HR-12-9-2 which creates a contract tow rotation list to be used by ECC when tows are requested by law enforcement or other officials; and

WHEREAS, on September 28, 2012, Douglas County, by and through its County Administrator, requested the City participate in the county’s contract tow rotation list in appropriate circumstances, in part to alleviate potential confusion and implement an efficient system for dispatching towing service providers for the health, safety and public welfare of the citizens of Lawrence and Douglas County.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

SECTION I.        The City of Lawrence hereby requests the Douglas County Emergency Communications Center use the County contract tow rotation list when requested by the Lawrence Police Department or other City officials pursuant to Section 1-1508.B of Douglas County Home Rule Resolution HR-12-9-2.
