RE: Eagle Bend Golf Course - Golf Cart Fee Increases for 2013
Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the October 23, 2012 meeting:
Increase golf cart fees at Eagle Bend Golf Course by $1.00 on all cart rentals for 2013
Description
On September 18, 2012, the City Commission approved a four-year lease for new electric golf carts at Eagle Bend Golf Course. The new carts are scheduled to be delivered in December of 2012 to replace the existing gas powered fleet. The fleet of electric carts will cost approximately $13,000 more per year to lease than the gas carts fleet. The current lease rate for the gas carts were based on bids received eight years ago.
Current usage of the carts is approximately 13,500 rentals per year. Therefore, by adding $1.00 to each rental, the additional cost of the yearly lease will be covered. (See rate increase below.)

It is also projected that additional savings will be recognized by powering the fleet with electricity instead of gasoline. However, projecting this savings is difficult due to fluctuating prices of the two power sources.
Action Request
The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to increase golf cart fees at Eagle Bend Golf Course by $1.00 on all cart rentals for 2013.
