Re:             Lawrence Police Foundation Fund Raiser

The Lawrence Police Foundation was established in 2011.  Members include graduates of the Lawrence Police Department Citizens’ Academy and community business and civic leaders.  The Lawrence Police Foundation has defined its mission as:

The Lawrence Police Foundation will support, assist, and encourage the Lawrence Police Department with funding and collaboration in their projects, research studies, equipment needs, and education. We encourage and support community awareness and skill development to strengthen the partnership between the men and women of the Lawrence Police Department and the citizens they serve.

On August 23, 2012, the Lawrence Police Foundation sponsored the “Car 54 Where Are You” golf tournament at the Orchards Golf Course to raise funds for Automated External Defibrillators (AED).  The event raised $9,600.  An additional $1,400 was graciously donated to the cause by a Lawrence citizen who had been provided with life saving care by Lawrence Police Officers and emergency medical personnel during a serious accident.

These funds will allow for the purchase of eight AEDs.  This will further equip the Department’s patrol fleet with life saving technology as well as providing replacement units for AEDs that are no longer serviceable.  Delivery of the AEDs is expected to take place this week.
