RE:	Recreation Center/Sports Village

Earlier this week you received the attached letter from Dr. Sheahon Zenger, Athletics Director for the University of Kansas.  The letter invites the City to work with KU Athletics and the Kansas University Endowment Association (KUEA) on a new location for our proposed recreation center.  Information from our Planning Department is included in your agenda packet related to this location.   Separately, earlier this week you conducted a bond and note sale and we have updated our recreation center financial debt/lease analysis to reflect these market interest rates.

Commission direction is requested on continued pursuit of this project.  Specifically, direction to present engineering and architect contracts for your consideration is desired.  Additional direction to staff to work with KUEA and KU Athletics on this proposed site would also be appropriate.
