RE: Youth Sports Complex – Lights for ball diamond #8
Please include the following item on the next available City Commission agenda:
Accept the bid provided by Musco Sports Lighting for three additional light poles and fixtures to complete the lighting project on ball diamond #8 at the Youth Sports Complex.
Project Description
In 2011 the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department installed a used set of Musco ball diamond lights on fields 5 – 7 at the Youth Sports Complex. These lights were acquired from KU, when the old Sport-2-Sport complex was torn down. The donated poles were able to completely light three of the four fields and one of the used poles was installed on field #8. The three new poles would complete the lighting on field #8 and also complete the lighting project for the four south fields at the complex.
Pricing for the project was acquired through a TIPS and TAPS Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, but would also be considered a sole source due to the need to match the new poles to the existing Musco lighting system.
Project Funding
It is proposed that the $30,000 be funded from Sales Tax Reserve.
Action Request
The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to accept the bid provided by Musco Sports Lighting for $30,000 to provide 3 additional light poles for field #8 at the Youth Sports Complex
