On August 14, 2012, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for 192 linear feet of 78" diameter RCP storm sewer pipe for Project No. PW1221 – Pennsylvania Street (8th Street N. 200') – City Bid No. B1246.

Project Description & History. In conjunction with the Poehler Building redevelopment project, new storm sewer was installed along the north side of 8th Street between Pennsylvania and Delaware Streets. New storm sewer infrastructure was also installed during the construction of Delaware Street between 8th and 9th Streets.
Coincidentally an existing section of brick storm sewer failed approximately 200' downstream of these ongoing storm sewer improvements. Although this failure WAS NOT due to the storm sewer construction at the time it did necessitate that downstream improvements take place as soon as possible. The timing of the failure did however allow for modifications of the newly placed junction box to accommodate this future storm sewer line work. The pipe acquired with this bid will tie into the new junction box and replace approximately 200 linear feet of aging storm sewer infrastructure and will be completed with City crews.
Project Funding. The storm sewer pipe is funded from the Stormwater Utility Fund.
Action Request. Award bid for storm sewer pipe, Project No. PW1221, Pennsylvania Street (8th Street N. 200') to Cretex Concrete Products Midwest in the amount of $31,680.00, provided the fabricator can meet the terms established in the contract documents.
