RE:	Closure of Vermont St adjacent to Library on 08/02/12

The Lawrence Public Library has requested permission to close Vermont Street from 7^th Street to the entrance of the parking lot adjacent to the Library (Lot 13) from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, for their annual Last Bash of Summer. The event would feature a band performing on the sidewalk on the east side of the library with the street utilized by spectators.

The Library requests authorization of the possession and consumption of alcohol in the event area. Adoption of Ordinance No. 8766 would allow for this.

ACTION:      Approve a Temporary Use of Public Right-of-Way Permit allowing the closure of Vermont Street from 7^th Street south to the Parking Lot 13 entrance from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012, for the Lawrence Public Library Last Bash of Summer; adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 8766, allowing the possession and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way during the event.
