RE:	July 10, 2012 Agenda Item – Award Bid for Clinton Water Treatment Plant Transfer Pump #3 Replacement

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the July 10, 2012 meeting:

Award Bid No. B1237 for the Clinton Water Treatment Plant Transfer Pump #3 Replacement to JCI Industries in the amount of $49,998 and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract agreement.

Project History/Status

The Clinton Water Treatment Plant uses transfer pumps to move water around the plant and to storage. Transfer pump #3 moves water from the filters to the on-site storage prior to sending it to the water distribution system. Transfer pump #3 has been in service since 1979 and has been rehabilitated several times in that time period. The transfer pump has currently exceeded its serviceable life.

On 6/5/12 the City Commission set a bid date of June 26, 2012. Four bids or responses were opened as follows:

          JCI Industries - $49,990.00

          Blaze Mechanical, Inc. - $52,825.00

          CAS Constructors - $61,948.00

          Douglas Pump Service, Inc. – No Bid

Project Funding: 

The project will be funded from the 2012 Operations and Maintenance budget 501.7.7210.2531.

Action Request:  Staff recommends award of Bid No. B1237 for the Clinton Water Treatment Plant Transfer Pump #3 Replacement to JCI Industries in the amount of $49,998 and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract agreement.
