RE:                  June 26, 2012 Agenda Item – Set Bid Date for Contractor Services for Emergency Sanitary Sewer, Force Main and Air Relief Valve Repairs

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the June 16, 2012 meeting:

Set a bid opening date of July 17, 2012 for Bid Number B1240 Contractor Services to Complete Emergency Sanitary Sewer, Force Main, and Air Relief Valve Repairs

Project Description

Collapsed sewer mains, severe sewer pipe fractures and other defects need immediate repair to prevent sanitary sewer overflows and backups into customer homes. The department averages 30 emergency repairs annually, which range in price from $3,000 to $14,000 per repair.

The bid request includes service to make the emergency sanitary sewer repairs for one year with the option to renew that contract for an additional four one-year periods with the agreement of both parties. The current contract expires August 1, 2012.

Project Funding

The work will be funded from the 2012 Operations and Maintenance budget for 501.7.7410.2538.

Action Request

Set a bid opening date of July 17, 2012 for Bid Number B1240 Contractor Services to Repair Sanitary Sewer Mains, Force Mains, and Air Relief Valves.
