Please place the following on the June 19 City Commission Consent Agenda:  Authorize staff to pay Kansas Worker’s Compensation Assessment in the amount of $24,834.93.

 

Background

Each year the State of Kansas issues an assessment against every insurance carrier and self-insured entity to cover the operating costs of Kansas Department of Labor’s Office of Workers Compensation.  The City has been self-insured for workers compensation for well over a decade.  The assessment is used to fund the Office of Workers Compensation and its staff.  This year the assessment is $24,834.93, down slightly from $25,505.98 in 2011.

 

Recommended Action

Staff recommends paying the $24,834.93 assessment to the State of Kansas.
