Renovation of existing homes is a segment of the construction industry for which tracking of statistics may also be of interest.  BSD issued 16 permits for residential remodeling and addition of one- and two-family dwellings projects in May.  The following charts compare the numbers of permits issued for both new homes and remodeling projects in May and Year-to-Date for the previous five years:

The highest valued projects for the month were for the HyVee C Store, 3900 W 24th Place, valued at $1,400,000; and single family dwellings at 1714 Lake Alvamar Drive, valued at $1,100,000 and 133 Running Ridge Road, valued at $1,000,000.

Two permits were issued for public projects, including a project to remodel biology classrooms at Lawrence High School, valued at $206,000; and a temporary street lighting project at 500 East 23rd Street valued at $1,500.
