RE:	Ordinance No. 8749: Weight limits for garbage, refuse and solid waste disposal

In the 2012 legislative session, The Kansas Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, SB298. SB298 amends the weight limitation for certain trucks designed and used for garbage, refuse, solid waste disposal, mounted fertilizer spreaders and animal dung spreaders.  New weight limits for these trucks are 60,000 pounds for trucks with three axels and 40,000 pounds for trucks with two axels. Chapter 17, Article 9, Section 17-902 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2011 Edition needs to be amended to reflect these changes, specifically 17-902 (E). The bill becomes effective upon publication in the Kansas Statutes on July 1, 2012.
