RE: |
Annexation of approximately 12.29 acres
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission’s June 5, 2012 agenda for consideration:
Request to annex approximately 12.29 acres.
Background:
On March 19, 2012, Landplan Engineering, on behalf of Advantage Metals, LLC, submitted an application for a Conditional Use Permit (a County land development application) for the development of a recycling and salvage facility located at 1783 E 1450 Road also known as US Highway 59/40. During the review, the applicant was advised that the proposed development was located in the City of Lawrence Urban Growth Area and within a designated gateway corridor. These factors and several others resulted in a recommendation that the project should proceed as a City land development application.
The applicant has submitted an application for annexation and applications for zoning, preliminary plat, and a special use permit for development of a recycling/salvage facility. Per city policy, a request to annex over ten (10) acres should be referred to the Planning Commission for a recommendation.
Action Requested:
Receive annexation request and forward to the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Commission for consideration at its June 25, 2012 regular meeting.
