Description: 2012 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) request for Douglas County Kansas Sheriff’s Office – Lawrence Police Department Public Enhancement of Public Safety for Downtown Lawrence through use of video technology

 

The Justice Assistance Grant monetary allocation designated for Douglas County Kansas and Lawrence City will be jointly used to purchase equipment that will allow law enforcement in Douglas County to monitor and manage downtown traffic, parades, and other large activities as well as capture evidence of criminal activity. The Lawrence Police Department seeks to partner with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to use the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to purchase video equipment, including cameras and all related equipment needed to install, maintain, and manage the video equipment.

 

Details:  Grant funds will be used to purchase equipment that will allow law enforcement in Douglas County to monitor and manage downtown traffic, parades, and other large activities as well as capture evidence of criminal activity.

FundingThe Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant is $46,800.00 with no matching requirement.

 

 

Action Request.  Police Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize this grant project.
