Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

 

WHEREAS:  Since 1977, the International Council of Museums has organized an International Museum Day during the third week in May; and

 

WHEREAS:  The theme of the 2012 International Museum Day is “Museums in a Changing World. New Challenges, New Inspirations;” and

 

WHEREAS:  The city of Lawrence features several flourishing cultural institutions, including the Spencer Museum of Art, the KU Natural History Museum; the Watkins Community Museum of History; the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics; the Wilcox Classical Museum; and the Booth Family Hall of Athletics; and

 

WHEREAS:  Many Lawrencians of all ages support and benefit from these institutions;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert J. Schumm, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Friday, May 18, 2012, as

“INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY”

and call upon all citizens of the City of Lawrence and Douglas County to join in commemorating the cultural contributions these aforementioned institutions provide to all citizens.
