Aviation Advisory Board Minutes

February 15, 2012

MEMBERS PRESENT:	Dan Born, Rick Cole, Gary Fish, Theresa Gordzica, Richard Haig & Stan Sneegas
MEMBERS ABSENT:	Bob Newton
STAFF PRESENT:	Chuck Soules, Duane Peterson
PUBLIC PRESENT:	Lloyd Hetrick – FBO,  Rick Bryant – ADG, Gary K. Behrens - ADG

President Richard Haig called the meeting to order at 6:32 PM.

1. Review and approval of November 2, 2011 meeting minutes

The November 2, 2011 Board Meeting minutes were reviewed.  Gary Fish moved and Rick Cole seconded the motion to approve the minutes.  Motion passed by a vote of 5 - 0.

2. Update Wildlife Assessment

Gary K Behrens, ADG updated the Board on the latest findings of the Wildlife Assessment (report attached).

3. Airport Manager's Report

Chuck Soules gave a brief update on the Sewer Project and Crack Sealing.

4. FBO Report

Lloyd Hetrick gave a report highlighting Big 12 sports teams wanting to fly into the Lawrence airport.

5. 2012 Aviation Youth Camp – June 2, 2012

Duane Peterson and Rick Bryant gave a report about the 2012 Aviation Youth Camp sponsored by the Lawrence Parks & Recreation Dept.  The Board recommended that the fee be raised from $25 to $40 per participant to cover expenses.

6. 2012 KAA Summer Conference

7. Rick Bryant described the 2012 KAA Summer Conference to be held in Lawrence from June 21-22, 2012.

The Board suggested that the Dole Center be considered a venue for the business meetings.  If it is not available then other venues such as the Carnegie Center and Abe & Jakes be considered.  The Holiday Inn Express made an attractive offer for housing.

8. Miscellaneous Business

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:20 PM.
