MEMBERS PRESENT:                     Jon Josserand, Bob Moody, Ken Albrecht, Stacey VanHouten, Michael Kennedy, Ione Unruh, Dennis Christilles

MEMBERS ABSENT:                      Matt Hoy, Billy Williams, Kelly Herndon, Sue Hack, Ted Juneau, Kathleen Hodge, Michelle Jennings

Chair Josserand opened the regular monthly meeting in the city commission chambers at City Hall at 5:35 on March 14, 2012.

Josserand

A town in Nebraska contacted Josserand looking for information on how to go about forming a sister city relationship.

Moody

*All accounts are set up at Intrust Bank with internet access. 

* $36 in service charges were withdrawn

* 4 accounts total – access to 3

*Discussion ensued regarding the: trip payments, timeline of payments, and timeline of the city getting the check made to the travel agent

Josserand

*Josserand asked that a motion be made to approve the January minutes.

A motion was made and the January minutes were approved.

*Standing committees were briefly reviewed.

*An update on the Japan Grant was given.  An intern can be expected for the fall.  The Hilliards will host the intern for the 1^st year.

Friends of Hiratsuka

Friends of Hiratsuka are looking for chaperones & trip coordinators for the 2012/2013 and beyond.  Ted Juneau suggested invigorating the group with committee & structure to evaluate, suggest, and recommend changes.

Friends of Eutin

*9 students are going to Eutin this summer (2012)

*Greg Bean with the German American Society has been in contact with FOE about a men’s choir group wanting a venue in Lawrence to perform.  He is asking for help.

Friends of Iniades

Christilles reviewed the information on the delegation trip.  There are concerns of having enough people on the delegation, as well as, having a good representation from the city staff.
