The Building Safety Division issued 220 building permits in March, with total construction for the month valued at $3,314,446.  Total permit fees assessed for the month were $36,689.  Monthly and year to date comparisons to previous years will be tracked throughout 2012 in the following table:

Staff issued 10 permits for new residential construction in March, all for single-family dwellings.  This compares to 21 permits issued for new residential construction in March last year, including 13 single-family dwellings, one duplex, and seven apartment buildings containing 47 dwelling units.  Monthly and year-to-date statistics for total permits issued and new residential projects will be tracked in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

Renovation of existing homes is a segment of the construction industry for which tracking of statistics may also be of interest.  BSD issued 22 permits for residential remodeling and addition projects in March.  The following charts compare the numbers of permits issued for both new homes and remodeling projects in March and Year-to-Date for the previous five years:

 

 

 

The highest valued projects for the month were for new single-family dwellings, 744 Mississippi valued at $327,632, and 1009 April Rain Rd valued at $322,421.  No permits were issued for public projects in March.
