Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the April 3, 2012 meeting:

Award bid for pumps and motors for the Utilities Department to Douglas Pump for $53,520.00, JCI for $57,144.00, Layne Christensen Company $42,222.00 and Letts Van Kirk for $109,839.00. Total for all pumps and motors is $345,938.00.

Project Details

The Utilities Department requested bids for forty-three (43) pumps and motors (out of the total 533) for rebuild or replacement from the maintenance management system. This is the Pump and Motor Program that the department has used to maintain the reliability of the pumping system for numerous years.

Items (3,4), (5,6), (7,8), (9,10), (11,12), (13,14), (15,16), (27,28), (31,32), (35,36), (39,40), and (41,42) are pump/motor sets and are awarded to the overall lowest bidder for that pair of items as called out in specifications. Because they have been in service since 1954, items 11, 12, 13 and 14 will be replaced with new units. Similar units that were replaced last year were extremely worn and beyond normal cost to repair. Items 32 and 43 were removed from the list for this year.

The bid tab lists all bids received from vendors. The recommendation lists the staff recommendation for awarding to the lowest bidder per item or pump/motor set as listed above.

Project Funding:

This purchase was budgeted in the 2012 O&M budget line items for equipment maintenance.
