AIR SYSTEM – PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT – #B1215

Public Works Maintenance Garage requested bids for a shop air compressor and piping.  This system powers all of the tools for removing and installing parts on the vehicles in the fleet.  The present system is 36 years old.  It is composed of iron pipes that are rusting from condensation and restricting flow to the point that only two impact wrenches can be operated at the same time.  By OSHA standards all compressors twenty years old should have at a minimum their tanks replaced because of the danger of explosion.

The low bid from P1 Group made changes in the drawings to reconfigure the piping which is unacceptable.  They also offered a one year warranty.  Meyers Brothers did not attend the required pre-bid meeting.  Therefore, our recommendation is to award the bid to Cullum and Brown for $34,790.00.  They met all specifications and offer a 5 year warranty.
