RE: |
2012 Rev it Up! Hot Rod Hullaballoo
|
Stephen and Michelle Chronister have requested permission (see attached permit application) to close Massachusetts Street from 11th Street to 13th Street on Saturday, August 11, 2012, for the Rev it Up Hot Rod Hullaballoo event (see attached traffic control plan). The same event occurred in this location on Saturday, October 8, 2011. The event would take place in the eastern half of South Park and would be a hot rod and custom car show featuring vendors and live music in the park, and hot rods parked on the closed section of Massachusetts Street. The event would be a fundraiser for local charities. Organizers report that last year’s event raised over $6,400 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
The event would close Massachusetts Street from 11th Street to 13th Street from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Vehicles would also be parked along New Hampshire Street from 12th Street to South Park Street, and on North Park Street from Massachusetts Street to Vermont Street. Any use of the Law Enforcement Center parking lot or North Park Street east of Massachusetts Street would have to be with the permission of Douglas County.
ACTION: Approve a temporary use of public right-of-way permit for the closure of Massachusetts Street from 11th Street to 13th Street from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012, for the Rev it Up Hot Rod Hullaballoo, as well as the use of parking along North Park Street and New Hampshire Street adjacent to South Park, if appropriate.
