TWO (2) 1 TON, EXTENDED CARGO VANS – PARKS AND RECREATION
On February 6, 2012, Parks and Recreation had two vans damaged in the fire at 911 East 11th Street. Unit 579 was a 2007 van used for HVAC maintenance and was a total loss. Unit 580 is a 1997 van used for electrical maintenance. This unit is scheduled for replacement this year. We suggest rather than spend approximately $2000 for repairs to replace the van now.
These two vehicles are in constant use. We are requesting quotes rather than bids because we can get delivery in a short time rather than approximately 16 weeks when going out for bid.
The only bidder meeting our specifications is Laird Noller. We requested windows in the side doors and only Laird Noller bid the windows. The windows are a safety issue. They give a much greater visibility when backing the vehicle. Shawnee Mission Ford also bid 2011 models rather than 2012. We would have to order Olathe Ford’s vans which would take approximately 12 weeks. Midway Ford’s vans do not have the extended body which is needed for the amount of equipment required to be carried in the vans.
