RE:     Bid date for Park & Recreation Contractual Services

Please include the following item on the next City Commission agenda:

Set a bid opening date of January 24, 2012, for hourly rate for individual contractual repairs, maintenance services and tree trimming (emergency/non emergency).

Project Description

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests the bidding of HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, Concrete and Excavation repair and maintenance services and emergency and non emergency tree trimming and removal to be performed at an hourly rate, in City owned facilities. The successful bidder will be hired as needed to perform small projects throughout the year. Each individual project will be at a cost not to exceed $15,000 to stay within city policy. Each individual bid document will specify that approved bids may be utilized by other City of Lawrence departments.

Project Funding

It is estimated that the total of these projects throughout the year will equal $90.000.00- $150,000.00 and will be funded using the general fund, recreation fund, sales tax reserve and the alcohol tax.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to set a bid date of January 24th, 2011, for the hourly repair, maintenance and forestry services.
