RE:	Request for Proposals for 2010 Healthcare Plan

The City of Lawrence through the Healthcare Committee and Hays Companies is prepared to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Employee Healthcare Plan to be effective with the 2010 plan year.

The RFP is scheduled for distribution on or before May 1, 2009 through Hays Companies.  On April 21, 2009 the City Commission approved the City Manager to enter into agreement with Hays Companies to perform this service.

The RFP will be for the all medical, dental, vision and prescription drug components of the healthcare plan to include Third Party Administrative (TPA) claims administration, reinsurance coverage and provider networks.  Wellness initiatives will be incorporated into the RFP. 

Action Item:  Request approval for distribution of the Healthcare plan RFP on or before May 1, 2009.
