RE:	617 W. 4^th; Update on progress of rehabilitation

On February 18, 2009, staff visited the property and spoke with the contractor, Mike Downs, to discuss the scope of work performed since the issuance of the building permit on February 11, 2009. Staff determined the following work had been partially or fully completed:

• The front porch has been removed and code compliant pier footings will be poured to support the new porch.
• All trash, personal items, wood products, etc. inside the structure was in the process of being removed and placed in a roll off dumpster.
• A tarp has been placed on the roof to assist with preventing further water infiltration until the roof repairs are completed.
• All of the severely deteriorated foundation walls which consisted of stone and brick have been removed.  A foundation contractor will be visiting the site to discuss a plan of repair. 
• The lap siding has been removed at various locations to determine the scope of deterioration to the rim joists/sill plates.  There are several locations that have been identified as needing a complete rebuild.
• Numerous tree limbs have been removed that were hindering work and further tree removal will be required.  

The attached pictures provide a visual of the work performed. The next update will be provided for the March 3, 2009 City Commission Meeting.
