TERMS:            Three year terms.  Terms expire January 31 of corresponding year.

MEETINGS:        Second Wednesday of each month, City Commission Room, First Floor, City Hall, 6 E. 6th Street 7:00 p.m.

 

FUNCTION:

The mission (purpose) of the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission is to enhance and enliven the community by promoting cultural opportunities and arts education while nurturing an environment of aesthetic vitality.  In order to effectuate this mission, the Cultural Arts Commission shall have the following responsibilities:

 

  1. Upon their own initiative:

1.   Recommend works of art for the purpose and/ or recommend projects relating to the purchase of art.

2.   Recommend for consideration by the Governing Body various artistic events and/or projects related to artistic endeavors within the community.

3.   Present awards of recognition related to various artistic endeavors within the community.

4.   Make recommendations to the Governing Body regarding any matter which is believed to have a significant impact upon the aesthetic environment of the community.
