RE: Approval Request to distribute Employee Benefits Broker Request for Proposals
Project Background
Administrative Services/Human Resources Division is requesting the approval to distribute the attached Employee Benefits Broker/Consultant Request for Proposals. The purpose of the RFP is to solicit proposals to perform the full range of ongoing broker/consulting service related to employee benefits.
We anticipate marketing our health plan benefits (major medical, dental, vision, reinsurance, third party administration and prescription drug) and supplemental benefits (term life insurance, etc.) in May 2009 and the selected broker/consultant will assist in preparing the RFP and advising staff in those processes. We currently do not have an ongoing relationship with an employee benefits broker or consultant. In the recent past, we have used a consultant on a project basis to assist with marketing employee benefits.
Proposed Schedule (If approved on February 17, 2009)
February 18 - distribute Request for Proposals;
March 11 - RFP responses due back at 3:00 pm in the City Clerk’s Office;
April 11 - selection finalized and agreements executed.
Project Funding
Funding for this project is through health care fund retained earnings
Action Request
Authorize Administrative Service/Human Resources Division staff to distribute a Request for Proposals for Employee Benefits Broker/Consulting Services.
