City infrastructure improvement projects
(LAWRENCE, KS) - The Douglas County Public Works Department announces
that repairs to the concrete deck of the Route 438 (Kasold Drive) bridge
over the Kansas Turnpike will tentatively begin on Monday, September
23rd. Route 438 (Kasold Drive) will be closed to through traffic
between Peterson Road (N 1700 Road) and Lakeview Road (N 1800 Road) for
the duration of the repairs. It is currently anticipated that the
project will take four (4) weeks to complete.
A signed detour utilizing Peterson Road, N. Iowa Street, and Lakeview
Road will be provided to route traffic around the closed bridge.
In addition to Route 438 (Kasold Drive) being closed, the Kansas
Turnpike Authority (KTA) will close down one lane in each direction on
the Kansas Turnpike (I-70) at the bridge as work proceeds overhead. The
lane closures on the turnpike are a precaution against falling debris.
Storm water improvement occurring along 31st Street will reduce traffic
to one lane each direction between Ousdahl Rd. and Iowa St.
