City infrastructure improvement projects

(LAWRENCE, KS) - Phase 3 of the overlay and curb repair program will
begin September 9.  Contractors will be working on thirteen sections of
road during the phase.  Quail Creek Court, Quail Creek Drive from
Tam-O-Shanter to Quail Creek Court, Sierra from Sixth Street to Trail
Road and Sierra Court will be the first sections prepared for overlay
and curb repair.

The overlay and curb repair program will require intermittent lane
closures.

Work continues on the 21st Street storm water improvements.  The
following roads are open to local traffic but will experience periodical
closings during work day, 19th Terrace, 20th Street and 20th Terrace.

City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of September 9:

Milling, Overlay 

St. Andrews, Seminole to Glen Eagle, completed

Quail Creek Court, intermittent lane closures
Quail Creek Drive, Tam-O-Shanter to Quail Creek Court, intermittent lane
closures
Sierra, Sixth Street to Trail Road, intermittent lane closures
Sierra Court, intermittent lane closures

Storm sewer improvements

21st Street, closed, Ousdahl Road to east of Naismith, completed
approximately May 2003, weather permitting

Naismith southbound, closed south of 19th Street, completed
approximately September 20, weather permitting

20th Street, from Clifton to Ousdahl Road, reopened

19th Terrace, 20th Street and 20th Terrace, open to local traffic,
periodical closure during work day

Manhole repairs
Various locations throughout the city, completed approximately
mid-December, weather permitting

Large Line Cleaning and Inspection Project
27th and Crossgate, intermittent traffic interruption
31st and Atchison, intermittent traffic interruption
2nd and Michigan, intermittent traffic interruption
31st and Louisiana, intermittent traffic interruption
project should be completed approximately October 31, weather permitting

Water line installation
Vermont Street, 23rd Street to 2368 Vermont Street, parking restricted
and traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., completed approximately October
15, weather permitting

Road improvements
Ousdahl Road, 31st Street to 33rd Street, closed, completed
approximately November 1
