Community invited to 9-11 remembrance event 

(LAWRENCE, KS) - The Lawrence community is invited to come together at a
commemoration ceremony to honor the victims of September 11.

The event will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 6pm at Haskell
Indian Nations University stadium, 155 Indiana Avenue.  

The commemoration ceremony will honor the victims of the attacks on the
World Trade Center, Pentagon, airline flight takeovers and the American
military service personnel who have died in the battle against terrorism
and those who continue to fight.  Organizers wish to share a message of
hope and encouragement with the community.

The ceremony will include representatives from Lawrence Police
Department, Lawrence/Douglas County Fire/Medical Department and Douglas
County Sheriff's Department.  Veterans' organizations including the
American Legion and VFW will be participating.

The event is free and open to the public.
