INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO OFFER LONG-COURSE LAP SWIMMING

LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Indoor Aquatic
Center, 4706 Overland Dr., will set up its competition pool for
long-course lap swimming on the following weekends: Sept. 15 and 16,
Sept. 22 and 23, and Sept. 29 and 30.

 

During long course weekends, lap lanes will be 50-yards long. Regular
short course (25-yard) lap swimming will resume on Mondays. 

 

Lap swimming hours at the Indoor Aquatic Center are from 9 a.m. to 7:45
p.m. on Saturdays, and 1 to 5:45 p.m. on Sundays.

INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO HOST FALL FESTIVAL FOR KIDS

LAWRENCE - Lawrence youth are invited to a kids-only night of swimming
fun from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. 

 

The Kid's Night Out: Fall Festival will be held at the Indoor Aquatic
Center, 4706 Overland Dr. The program is for ages 5-12 and will include
autumn-themed crafts, games and a pizza party. Children will be
supervised by Indoor Aquatic Center staff, and pre-registration is
required. 

 

The deadline to register for Kid's Night Out: Fall Festival is
Wednesday, Sept. 19. A $10 fee must be paid at the time of registration.
All activities and refreshments are included in the fee.

 

Registration for the class can be done online at www.lprd.org or by
visiting any Parks and Recreation facility including: the Community
Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East
15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; the Indoor
Aquatic Center; Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center; Prairie Park Nature
Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire
St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.
