Mayor Hack and Community Commission on Homelessness host stakeholder
meeting

 

(Lawrence, Ks) - The vision created by the Community Commission on
Homelessness includes an emergency shelter, a greater number of
transitional and temporary housing units, and a greater number of
supportive housing units.  The vision will be presented to service
providers, faith community leaders and interested parties on Monday,
Sept. 10 at 3:00p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont.

 

The CCH, in partnership with service providers and other stakeholders,
developed a housing vision to address homelessness in Lawrence.
Following the January 2007 Homeless Survey that documented 373 homeless
individuals including 79 families with children, the group broadened
their focus to provide for a more diverse homeless population. The
vision, as presented to the Lawrence City Commission in June, is
available on the web at

Service providers, faith community leaders and other interested parties
are invited to the upcoming meeting. The CCH will present the vision,
answer questions and solicit feedback from attendees.  Attendees will be
asked to communicate the vision to current and potential partners in
order to determine their level of involvement. A follow-up meeting is
scheduled for Monday, October 1 to receive feedback and commitments.
