EVENT REMINDER: SESQUICENTENNIAL POINT DEDICATION TODAY
LAWRENCE - The dedication of Sesquicentennial Point will be held at 4
p.m. today. The ceremony will be at The Point, located at 6000 W. 27th
St., which is located on the City's leased property from the U.S. Corps
of Engineers. The public is invited to attend.
Members of the Sesquicentennial Commission: Clenece Hills, president;
Mary Burchill, chairperson of the Horizons Committee; Bruce Roberts,
secretary and William Crowe, treasurer, as well as Parks and Recreation
staff will provide comments regarding The Point's development from idea
to reality. Mayor Sue Hack will provide closing remarks, finalizing the
dedication. Junkyard Jazz will provide music.

KIDS LEARN HEALTHY HABITS IN A FUN ENVIRONMENT
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to
accept enrollment in Stretch N' Grow, "the fabulously fun fitness
program for kids."
Stretch N' Grow kids will focus on the development of motor skills,
creative thinking, problem solving and socialization. The class will
also emphasize issues such as safety, self-esteem and nutrition through
games, music and stories every week.
Sessions begin Tuesday, Oct. 30. A section for children ages 18 months
to 2 years is offered from 9-9:30 a.m. and a section for children ages 3
to 5 years is offered from 9:45-10:15 a.m.
