NEW SWIM LESSON, WATER FITNESS SESSIONS TO BEGIN
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division
will begin a new session of American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" lessons
Monday, Oct. 15, at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr.
Parent/Child classes for parents and children ages 6 months to 3 years
will be offered this session, as well as children's levels 1 through 6,
which introduce children to the water and develop and refine stroke
techniques. The fee for classes meeting four times per week is $30, and
the fee for Saturday classes is $19.
A new session of Water Aerobics, Water Walking and Water Specialty
classes also begins Monday, Oct. 15. Water fitness classes vary in
intensity and participants do not have to know how to swim. Class fees
range from $20-$52 for a 10-week session.
Individuals can enroll online at www.lprd.org or visit a Lawrence Parks
and Recreation facility, including: the Community Building, 115 West
11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom
Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic
Center, 4706 Overland Dr.; Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky
St.; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative
Offices, 947 New Hampshire St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141
Massachusetts St.
