19th Street and Louisiana Street improvement project topic of public
meeting

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - The City of Lawrence will hold an open house for the
19th Street and Louisiana Street improvement project on Monday, October
15 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Lawrence High School Cafeteria.

Planned improvements include lengthening of the left turn lane on 19th
Street east of Louisiana, construction of a center turn lane on 19th
Street west of Louisiana to Alabama, and construction of a bus turnout
lane on Louisiana south of 19th Street. The city will accept bids in
February. Waterline work could occur in the spring and road work will
occur June 1 to July 31. Visitors to the area can also expect to see
paving work on 19th Street in 2008. City staff will be available to
discuss the project, schedule, and answer questions.

The improvements have been designed using the input from representatives
of Lawrence High School and Cordley Elementary School. The city has
also had discussion with Old West Lawrence, University Place, and
Centennial neighborhood associations as well as feedback during two
public meetings.

Individuals unable to attend Monday's meeting may contact Director of
Public Works Chuck Soules at (785) 832-3123 or csoules at ci.lawrence.ks.us
with questions.
