Potential Conveyance Corridor for Wakarusa Water Reclamation Facility
Determined

 

(Lawrence, Kansas)  - Land owners along the potential conveyance
corridor for the Wakarusa Water Reclamation Facility are being provided
with information regarding the site access requirements for an on-site
investigation of the proposed corridor.

 

The corridor will be designed to convey flows to the new Wakarusa Water
Reclamation Facility, which will be built approximately in the area east
of E. 1600 Road and north of N. 1150 Road, south of the Wakarusa River.
The facility will initially have the capability of treating an average
flow of 7 million gallons per day.

 

Land owners in the vicinity of the proposed corridor were notified to
update them on the status of the project and to provide information for
the upcoming on-site investigations necessary to gain information on the
characteristics of the proposed corridor and pumping station site.

 

Investigations to be conducted include: geotechnical; surveying;
wetlands delineation/threatened and endangered species investigation;
archeological and historic investigation; a Phase 1 environmental
investigation and land appraisals.

 

Following the on-site investigations, a public meeting will be held on
Monday, Apr. 23, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at South Junior High
School, 2374 Louisiana St., to provide information on the proposed
corridor.
