SKYHOUNDZ DISC CHAMPIONSHIP LEAPS INTO SOUTH PARK

LAWRENCE -Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department welcomes the 2007
Hyperflight Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6,
to historic South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.

 

This event is free and open to the public.  There is no entry fee for
individuals who wish to compete. Novice and veterans competitors are
both encouraged to take part.  All competitors will receive an official
Hyperflight K-10 Competition Standard flying disc, and the top three
finishers will receive awards.

 

Teams will receive points based on basic throws and catches. Additional
bonus points will be handed out to teams completing mid-air catches in
the Distance/Accuracy event. 

 

The 2007 Skyhoundz Disc Championship is sponsored by Hyperflight Flying
Discs. The series is comprised of over 100 local championships, seven
Regional Championships and the World Championship.

PARKS AND RECREATION TO HOLD ADDITIONAL WOODCHIP SALE

LAWRENCE-Due to the amount of woodchips remaining, Lawrence Parks and
Recreation Department, Forestry Division will hold another woodchip
sale.

 

Dates and times of the sale are as follows:

 

Thursday, May 10 - 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday, May 11 - 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday, May 12 - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The cost of the sale will be $5 per pick up load, the price will be more
for larger trucks. Patrons are asked to bring a tarp for their pickup to
secure the woodchips, preventing them from littering the roadway as they
drive from the facility.

 

The sale will take place at the Parks and Recreation, Forestry Division
facility located at 1420 E. 11th St.  The sale will be held rain or
shine.
